| Learn how to be a mahout!! | ||
This 1 - 4 week project enables you to work closely with an elephant and it's mahout. You will work with one elephant and mahout throughout the duration of your stay, working closely with them and becoming part of the mahout community and learning about their lifestyle. Your role as a volunteer will include the following: |

- Learning how to verbally command your elephant whilst you walk with them through the beautiful forest surrounding the camp and opposite Khao Chee Chan. - Helping to shower and feed your elephant and keep their living area tidy and clean. - Learning how to climb on and off your elephant like a professional mahout. - Learning how to ride on the elephants neck and command them with the touch of your foot. - Talking to tourists about the plight of the Thai domestic elephant and the importance of the project. - Helping to sell bananas and food for the elephants to visiting tourists. - Helping to promote the project by distributing brochures and posters . - Helping to maintain the camp e.g. path clearing, litter collection, gardening. - Riding your elephant to the forest at night, where it will spend the night, then returning the next morning to ride it back to camp. - You can also help out with additional projects such as English teaching . - We also offer additional trips to some local tourist attractions, beach, shopping centers etc. |
