Pineapple collection truck (new) €14,148 (2nd hand) €2,021 This is our most urgent requirement, as it would enable each of the mahouts to collect the pineapple leaves that the elephants eat every day themselves. This would save each mahout €20 per month that they currently pay for pineapple leaf collection. It would also mean that the project had its own means of transport, so we wouldn't have to pay for transport for volunteers. Click here to Donate this amount. Bamboo and pineapple leaf houses €243 Another urgent requirement: €243 will provide the building materials and basic contents for a medium sized bamboo and pineapple leaf house. Having additional housing at the camp means we can invite more elephants and their mahouts to stay at the camp would also provide somewhere for the volunteers to stay, meaning that we don't have to pay for accommodation Click here to Donate this amount. Education Centre €1,011 An education centre within the camp would give us a focal point to inform volunteers, Thai and foreign tourists, students and school children about the problems faced by Thai elephants and their mahouts and how we are addressing these problems. €1,011 would provide us with the materials to build an education centre. Click here to Donate this amount. Gardening Tools €51 per mahout Providing the mahouts and families with gardening tools and seeds enables them to grow their own food and vegetables. When a new elephant and mahout arrive at the camp they often do not have enough money to spend on food, having had to pay to transport their elephant and family. Click here to Donate this amount. Brochures (x 5000) €303 Brochures raising awareness of the project and its aims, and promoting our activities, can be placed in hotels and tourist offices, and taken home by volunteers to raise awareness of the project to friends and work/study colleagues. Click here to Donate this amount. 1 weeks worth of food for 1 elephant €10 Click here to Donate this amount. 5 brooms to tidy the elephants living areas €2 Click here to Donate this amount. 5 rakes to clear uneaten pineapple leaves from the elephants living areas €5 Click here to Donate this amount. Shelter for one elephant €51 Click here to Donate this amount. Mahout Uniforms €303 This would provide each main mahout at the project (currently 15) with 2 uniforms and each second mahout with one. Each uniform costs €10. Click here to Donate this amount. Promotional merchandise Anything with theelephantmahoutproject logo printed on it helps to promote and raise awareness of the project, and can be sold to raise money. We would like to have a range of merchandise including: t-shirts, caps, key rings, elephant soft toys, pens, badges etc. if you are able to provide these, or would like to look into the cost of donating, please contact us. |
